Mr. Conomikes is an economist who formerly taught at the University of Chicago where he was also head of the Commerce Department. He has been a guest lecturer at over 15 universities and colleges. He is listed in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in the West, and Who’s Who in Finance and Industry.
George S. Conomikes
George S. Conomikes is President and Chief Executive Officer of Conomikes Associates, Inc. Since 1971 Mr. Conomikes has had articles in more than 20 publications on practice management subjects. He is the editor and publisher of two newsletters: Conomikes Reports on Medical Practice Management and Managed Care and Conomikes Medicare Hotline. He also has written two books: Successful Practice Management Techniques (1988) and The Answer Book on Maximizing Doctor Profits (1997).
In 1995 he was featured on Medical News Network with a special series on Managed Care.
Tamra Davis
Tamra Davis has been involved in the management of medical practices since 1981. Her experience includes hands-on management of family practices, internal medicine, ob/gyn, orthopaedics, and multi-specialty. Additionally, Ms. Davis was a Corporate Affiliate Operations Manager for Healthcare Physician Services Corporation (Austin TX) where she was responsible for negotiating acquisitions and then operating physician practices. Ms. Davis was promoted to Director of Physician Services for a Southern California hospital.
Prior to Ms. Davis's work with Conomikes Associates, she was Director of Operations for an IPA in Southern California. As a result of this work, she brings significant experience in managed care contracting, strategic plan development, contract compliance, personnel management, MIS integration, policy and procedure development, multi-site management and financial management.
Ms. Davis has a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from California State University Long Beach and a Master of Health Administration (MHA) from Chapman University. The American College of Medical Practice Executives has recognized Ms. Davis as a Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE). She has been active in the Medical Group Management Association, holding board positions and committee chairs.
Ms. Davis also contributes articles to Conomikes Reports on management, personnel, and Medicare issues.
Thomas Smolic
Tom Smolic is based in Chicago and undertakes practice management consulting and group formation assignments with a wide range of medical practices throughout the United States. He also conducts practice management workshops that are presented to physicians, office managers, and office personnel. He is a trained mediator for health care disputes through the American Health Lawyers Association.
Mr. Smolic has an extensive background in the medical field. After completing law school, he worked as an administrator to hand surgery, radiation oncology, and orthopaedic practices in Illinois and Florida.
Mr. Smolic holds a J.D. Degree from John Marshall Law School and is a member of the bar of the State of Illinois. He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association. He received a B.A. in Public Management and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from DePaul University.
Art Votek
Art Votek does extensive practice management consulting and group practice formations for private medical practices and academic institutions throughout the United States. In addition, he is a lecturer and workshop leader for a wide variety of practice management seminars.
Mr. Votek attended the University of Nebraska and has over 15 years of experience in medical practice management.
Prior to his 11 years with Conomikes Associates, he has been an Administrator for both single and multi-specialty medical groups. Previously he was the Health Plan Manager for a major HMO, and Director of Claims Administration for Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Linda Howrey, CPC, CCS-P
Linda Howrey is a coding and reimbursement specialist with over 18 years of experience in virtually all facets of health care. Ms. Howrey has served on several task forces to establish coding and billing compliance initiatives, reimbursement forms utilization and design, and audit policies and procedures. Linda is certified by the American Academy of Professional Coders (CPC) and The American Health Information Management Association (CCS-P).
Linda’s experience and qualifications have led to numerous assignments with private practices, academic institutions, hospitals, and various integrated delivery systems. These assignments have included: audit and compliance programs, reimbursement analysis, physician and staff training in CPT, ICD-9, use of Medicare’s RBRVS fee schedule system and assistance to clients undergoing Medicare Audits.Linda has taught courses in coding and reimbursement for a variety of organizations and she has been a speaker at numerous national meetings including The American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and United Communications Group (publishers of Part B News).
Linda has managed her own business providing consulting services to physicians, hospitals and teaching facilities as well as providing these services as a senior manager of the accounting firm, Ernst and Young, LLC. Additionally, Ms. Howrey has experience in hospital billing departments as a supervisor of Patient Accounts.
Ms. Howrey is currently the Managing Editor of Conomikes Medicare Hotline. She is also a Contributing Editor to Primary Care Reimbursement Alert, from Prentice Hall.
Linda has her BS Degree in Business Administration from the College of St. Mary in Omaha. She resides in Jefferson, MA.
